I know that this is different for everyone but how long did it take you to lose your weight from your first baby?

I know you're all going to hate me... but I don't know how I lost the weight! I never put much on, I literally go all "baby", and I was back in my jeans a couple of days after having my kids (although I will admit that the jeans were ones that were 2 sizes above my pre-pregnancy size both times).

The extra weight I did put on was on my bum and thighs, and going for walks seems to help me there. Both after having Kiya, and after having Josiah, I've been back to my ideal weight and size by the time they're about 8 months old.

I am pretty much back to pre-pregnacy weight now. I think that breastfeeding for longer does help - the weight seems to have just fallen off since Hannah was about 4 months. Also now that I am dairy free - no cheese, biccies etc... But I have also been doing LOTS of walking with the pram and eating better. Feel so much better for it too. Good luck...

I decided not to bother losing the weight after my first child and now that my second one has arrived and we don't plan to have any more I guess its time!

When I was pregnant with my second child I hardly put any weight on at all so queried this with the doctor as I was a bit worried. His reply....in the nicest way.....was that the baby was using my 'reserves' so to speak. Didn't gain any weight after the second child was born but still have to lose the weight from pregnancy one. I thought it was quite cool....I was pregnant, getting big with the baby but when the baby was born I could actually maybe weigh less than before I got pregnant and it sort of worked as I hadn't gained any weight

before i was pregnant i weighed 54kgs and by the end of my pregnancy only weighed 64kgs, weighed myself 2days after birth and was 53,stayed at that for 3months then went onto the depo injection and went up to 70....it increased my appetite something shocking...i used to get 2 footlongs from subway (oink oink)
I went off the depo a year ago and im at 55kgs, which im happy with

I just like being able to wear jeans....
Still have a bit of a pot belly tho but i dont mind it

caitlynsmygirl - that reminds me SO much of what I was like when I was on Depo, gained 20kgs and a HUGE love of food (not to mention a huge waist, thighs, bum... )

I obviously cant comment on this yet - but i know how hard it is to shift weight when i wasnt pregnant - i was a shocker, going on diet for like 2 days then cracking and binging, i can only imagine it will be harder after baby is born...ugh not lookign foward to it

I breastfed for 13.5 months and the weight was sucked away hehe.. I got down to skinnier than I've been in years but it's true that you do gain it again when you stop breastfeeding! I've put on weight (well fat) now and I need to exercise more!

i think it was when jack was about 12mths i decided to join weight watchers to loose my extra baggage. i was already 6kgs heavier than i wanted to be when i got pregnant with jack and after i had him there was ANOTHER 6kgs on top!!
i think i managed to loose about 4kgs and then stopped going only to gain it back again. then we decided to try for #2 so i gave up completely and now after this bubs is born i'm going to kick start the 'healthy eating and exercising program' again.
i'd highly recommend weight watchers to all and pilates! if you can't afford the weekly ww meetings, you can just get the books of trademe and do it at home or maybe with a friend.

"They" say that it takes 9 months to put it on and 9 months to lose it again.

I don't think I put on much weight, but the extra little podgy tummy had shrunk back in definitely by the time Hannah was 9 months. I'm skinnier than when I started too. Though that was because I'd put on quite a lot of weight in first year at uni... (Fresher 5!)

My theory is that I'm losing weight now because I snack on Hannah's leftovers and am never hungry enough to eat my own meals. (Well actually that was a few months ago now... made a conscious effort to eat my own food and went on the Depo injection so have put on a bit again).

Thanks for that. I'm a little paranoid about it do I get routine pregnancy tests done at each injection. (OK, so I've had one!!!) Got pregnant with Hannah after taking the emergency contaceptive pill and got preggo in December while on the mini-pill (can't take combined pill due to migraines) so yeah, giving Depo a go at the moment and if all else fails will go for an IUD. Although I think the risks of falling pregnant are higher with the IUD anyway.

Will just continue with being paranoid! Told Zeke I am not having another termination. (Though I think I just said it for shock factor, really I meant, if I happen to fall pregnant after my degree is finished I am going to force you to marry me so the child will be legitimate - hrmmmm maybe that's more shocking.)
